07.03.09 Braid - What a Wonderful Puddle!

In keeping up with yesterday’s backstory, the other band I truly fell in love with at fifteen was Braid.  There was something about Chicago emo that still makes my heart skip a beat.  I’m pretty sure I heard Hey Mercedes first and worked my way back, but there was just something about the Movie Music volumes that drove me wild.  My friends and I would make mixes for each other all the time in high school and I distinctly remember one of them yelling at me for always putting Braid on hers.  “Do You Love Coffee?” was the culprit.  She hated it.  Needless to say, we stopped talking in 2004.

The day after I graduated high school, also in 2004, I got to see Braid reunite and play a show in Jersey.  We brought cookies and hung out outside the venue way before doors were set to open.  It was one of the first shows I went to where I felt okay going up to a band member and telling them how much they mean to me.  I remember spewing all my love at Bob Nanna and Chris Broach that night, getting super starry eyed, especially when I got a setlist and had them sign it.  They were my superheroes.  Are.  The perfect boy will sit and watch Killing a Camera with me and feel the same way about the things we missed.

This is another one of those songs I’m conviced was written for me.  Every time I hear  Bob yelling out, “why’d you have to change?” I get goosebumps.  I want to play in puddles forever.  I hate this growing up bullshit.

i will reblog this song forever.
